World-Leading Travel Company: Workplace Wellbeing Consultancy and Keynote Speaking

Background

During the height of the pandemic, one of the world’s leading travel companies came to us as their business, like many others, had experienced seismic cultural changes.

In line with their Group workplace wellbeing and diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies, the business commissioned Michael Mauro to design a compelling skills-based 2-hour interactive session on workplace wellbeing and mental health.

The client was attracted to our specialist skills in designing and delivering high-profile discourses. Further, Michael Mauro is a survivor of complex trauma and holds a long-tenured career in learning, leadership development as well as diversity, equity and inclusion. They felt his warm style, international experience and expertise blended well with his technical abilities, creating a solid partnership.

How We Helped

Michael Mauro met with a range of employees, mental health first aiders and wellbeing ambassadors to understand the client’s full background and exact needs. We then created a thematic analysis of the findings, which were shared with the learning, leadership development, inclusion, culture, and wellbeing teams.

Findings were used to help inform strategic policies, ways of working and supporting documents. All that data was woven into a 2-hour discourse that was intimately aligned with the audience’s needs.

The discourse boldly called out strengths and opportunities for improvement within the audience, which created a burning platform that framed experiential upskilling activities.

Michael Mauro also created a broad range of self-reflection, small group and plenary activities built with custom case studies. Topics and frameworks covered aligned with current adult learning principles (like, 70:20:10) and their agendas focused on:

Explaining why workplace wellbeing awareness is important

Self-reflecting on individual and team workplace wellbeing needs

Seeking support for oneself and teams aligned with the business’ expanding company policies, systems, and processes

Creating psychological safety, trust, and empathy founded on team dysfunction principles

Coaching skills based on custom-built scenarios aligned with the audience’s roles

The Results

“Michael Mauro was very easy to partner with, helping us deliver a powerful message about how we are there for and care about our people”

– Skills and Leadership Development Manager

Leaders relished the opportunity to openly talk about their roles, challenges and the impact work has on their wellbeing. The session sparked ongoing company-wide conversations around how wellbeing initiatives can be embedded into more everyday routines and activities.

After such great feedback from participants, Michael was invited to help the company revamp its entire employee experience roadmap. The roadmap will be deployed across the whole company of 70k+ people and focuses on fostering inclusive cultures and creating deeper senses of wellbeing and belonging across the whole organisation.
