Background

In 2022, Deakin University in Australia reached out to Michael Mauro after discovering he was an alumnus who had gone abroad on to establish a boutique HR consulting firm in London.

Deakin University had a mission: deepen strategic relationships with the alumni community and help businesses within the network improve social mobility.

 

How We Helped

Michael Mauro was tasked with presenting to fellow alumni within the university’s network on “workforce sustainability” from a global perspective. Michael presented alongside industry-leading Professors and specialists within the field of diversifying workforces. The panel was moderated by the Business School’s Dean.

Michael explained what exactly diversity, equity and inclusion meant alongside the benefits of creating company cultures where leadership teams embody and embrace the uniqueness of their teams, which helps to create fair workplaces where everyone can belong.

He drew on his own global experience as well as independent research carried out in partnership with BAME, LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, working parents and female executives.
